What If You Could Just Ask Your Case?
A case file can tell you a lot. The challenge is finding what you need when you need it.
Medical records. Assessments. Court documents. Case notes. Reports. Attachments. Years of history.
For a caseworker preparing for court, reviewing a case, responding to a question, or simply trying to understand what happened months or even years ago, the answer may already exist somewhere in the record.
Finding it can be another story.
That’s the problem we wanted to solve with Talk to Your Case.
Need to Know Something? Ask Skye.
Talk to Your Case is a new AI-powered capability within Traverse that allows workers to have a conversation with the information already contained within a case.
And they do it through Skye, Northwoods’ AI agent.
Instead of manually searching through documents and case history, workers can ask Skye a question in everyday language. Talk to Your Case analyzes the relevant information and brings the answer forward, along with the supporting source text.
Need to understand when something happened?
Looking for information buried in a lengthy report?
Trying to prepare for an upcoming court hearing or case review?
Ask Skye.
Talk to Your Case can search across a full case file, summarize long or complex documents, identify key dates and events, and even transcribe audio or video files.
More importantly, workers can easily return to the source information behind an answer to verify it and apply their own expertise and judgment.
Because the goal isn’t for Skye to make decisions for caseworkers, it’s to help caseworkers get to the information they need to make those decisions.
Less Searching. More Doing.
Case files can grow to thousands of pages over time. Important information can be buried in an unexpected attachment, labeled differently than someone might anticipate, or simply difficult to locate among years of documentation.
Finding that information manually can take hours.
And time spent digging through a case file is time that can’t be spent preparing for the next visit, connecting with a family, collaborating with a colleague, or completing the other work waiting for attention.
That’s where we believe AI can make a meaningful difference.
For workers, Talk to Your Case can mean less time searching and transcribing, faster preparation for court and reviews, and greater clarity when navigating complex cases.
For agencies, it can support stronger quality reviews, reduce administrative workload, and make the information already contained within Traverse easier to access and understand.
And for families, getting workers to the right information faster can support more timely, informed decisions and create more capacity for meaningful engagement.
Before Our Customers Used It, Our Team Did
We believe one of the best ways to understand whether technology will actually work for human services professionals is to put it in the hands of people who understand the work.
That’s where our Grove team comes in.
Before the broader release of Talk to Your Case, members of Grove began using Skye and Talk to Your Case in their own work supporting agencies.
Our Grove professionals work inside real case information every day. They’ve been able to ask questions and quickly surface information that otherwise could have required significant time reviewing case records and documents.
More importantly, their experience gives our Product team an opportunity to learn.
Where does Skye make the work easier? What types of questions are most valuable? Where could the experience improve? Does it actually help someone get through their work more effectively?
It’s one more way we’re working to test what we build against the realities of human services work before expanding how it’s used.
"What stood out to our team was how quickly we could get to information that we knew was somewhere in the case, but may have taken significant time to find manually. Talk to Your Case doesn't replace the work or judgment of the person reviewing the case. It gives them a much faster starting point."
Dean Miller | Director of Grove
Because a feature isn’t valuable simply because it works.
It’s valuable when it makes the work better.
More Ways We're Making Everyday Work Easier
Talk to Your Case is one of several recent improvements focused on making everyday work in Traverse simpler and more intuitive.
Policy Assist now gives administrators more flexibility in how they organize and manage policy resources. New Collections allow agencies to organize policies by program area and control access for different staff groups. External Document Sync helps keep policy content current across connected systems, while new location filters give administrators greater visibility into how Policy Assist is being used across their organization.
We’ve also brought Form Packets to mobile, allowing workers in the field to start and work on multiple forms together without needing to return to their desktop.
They’re different capabilities solving different problems, but they’re moving toward the same outcome: reducing unnecessary steps and making it easier for people to get their work done.
Building AI Into the Work, Not Around It
Talk to Your Case is an exciting addition to Traverse, but what excites us most isn’t simply adding another AI capability.
It’s where experiences like this can take us.
We’re continuing to explore how Skye can become a natural part of the way people work in Traverse, helping bring information forward at the right moment, reduce repetitive work, and make complex tasks easier without adding another system or process to manage.
The future of human services technology shouldn’t require workers to become better at navigating software.
The software should become better at supporting the worker.
That’s what we’re working toward with Skye.
And Talk to Your Case is another step in that direction.
